Dorothy P. Savely, 89, our Mom, Gram and Gay, passed away May 25, 2016. She was born May 8, 1927, to the late Arthur and Helen (Franks) Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William J. Savely, Jr., son-in-law Loren Mains, step-mother Bess Harris, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dorothy lived in the Columbus area her entire life and was a graduate of Central High School. She was a homemaker for many years and worked for North American Aviation/Rockwell. Widowed at 45, she learned to drive and began working at The Ohio State University, where she became the lead secretary in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and "mothered" many local and international students. She was honored to be one of 20 employees who received the OSU Outstanding Staff Award in 1991. An ultimate sports fan, she seldom missed an event for her "perfect" grandchildren. She loved watching the Little League World Series, college baseball/softball games, and her OSU Buckeyes! But most importantly, she loved her family. She will be missed by her daughters Pam Savely (Ed Gallagher), Debbie (Mike) Beckman and Jodi Mains; her perfect grandchildren, Mike (Maren) Beckman, Kristen (Bobby) Weimer and Tyler (Alex) Mains; her "even more-perfect" great grandchildren, Braden and Delaney Weimer; and she looked forward to the birth of her third great grandchild, Flynn Mains, due in June. She is also survived by sister-in-law Anne Franks, nieces and nephews, and her many dear friends at The Ravine at Central College, especially Violet Woodland. Family will receive friends Friday (today) May 27, 2016 from 4-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. Graveside service will be at 10 AM Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Union Cemetery Chapel. Interment at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital Hematology Department. Online condolences may be made to www.schoedinger.com
