" Despondent Man Hangs Self
John H. Gantz commits suicide at Home of son in Lititz
John H. Gantx, of Lititz, committed suicide by hanging himself on Friday in an outbuilding at the home of his son, Wayne Gantz, on Spruce street, Lititz. It is the presumption that the man had been brooding over continued ill health and the fear that he was going blind.
Gantz had gone to the yard in the rear of his son's home during the morning and when he failed to return to the house in a reasonable time his son's wife instituted a search for the man. Upon entering the shed she found her father-in-law hanging from the end of a rope attached to a rafter. Aid was summoned and Deputy Coroner Dr. M. H. Yoder was notified. The man had been dead some time when his body was found."
