The legend of Jonas at Gettysburg, in 1863--Battle of Gettysburg, he walked from his farm to Gettysburg and back to the farm to pursue farm chores; namely, harvesting grain in his fields to that July. He was a tall strong man and could reap well with the grain cradle of the day. The following is a note from Walter F. Wolf, son of Jonas Frances Wolf, dated November 5, 1962; The Wolf girls all resided around or near some of these towns, Oxford, East Carlile, East Berlin, Allentown, Franklin Township,Harrisburg, Pleasant Hill, and Gettysburg, York, Adams County, Cumberland Township and the Pass in Pennsylvania. Another note says: Sarah died on October 28, 1891 at the age of 70. Jonas died on February 16, 1895 at the age of 84 in Adams County, Pennsylvania. Jonas is buried in the Chestnut Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery along with two of his children, Moses C. and Justina Catherina. (I, Bessie McDowell don't have any reference of Justina Catherina except this note.) Most of the information of this note came from a book: "Jonas Wolf of Berwick Township York County, Pennsylvania".
