Son of Captain James W. Meek, Sr. and Spicy Walker of Washington County, Virginia. James married Nancy Baker Smith and relocated to Monroe County, Tennessee where they appear on the Census for 1850. This family eventually moved to Whitfield County, Georgia and they were recorded there on the Census for 1860.--Nancy died in Monroe County and James died in Dalton, Whitfield County, Georgia between 1860 and 1870.

Eight children of James and Nancy Meek: Spicy G. Meek, Fannie Meek, Joseph Lowry Meek, Margaret Meek, William A. Meek, Henry Meek, Sussie V. Meek, and Kate Meek.

Spicy Meek married Alexander Daugherty, Joseph L. Meek married Maria Girdner, William A. Meek married first to Caladonia Virginia Davis and third to Virginia Eubank, Sussie Meek married Asburn Allen, and Kate Meek married Albert N. Senter.
