Janette Holland Sumrall Grace, known to her friends as "Jan", 82 of Denham Springs died peacefully at home May 24, 2016 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m on Friday, May 27 and will resume from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. A memorial service will be held at Seale Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. Burial will be at the Walker Baptist Church Cemetery in Walker.

Jan was a native of Jonesboro, Louisiana, the third of five children of Violet Tyler Holland and Ross Emmitt Holland.

Jan moved with her family to the Baton Rouge area in 1966 having lived the majority of the last 45 years in the Denham Springs area. Jan was a member of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the General Robert McCausland Chapter United Daughters of 1812 and the Joanna Waddill Chapter Daughters of the Confederacy. She served in various leadership roles in all her heritage organizations and loved researching family history. She was an avid and longtime genealogist who completed most of her family research long before the invention and use of the internet. Jan was an active member of the Broadmoor Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Violet Holland, sister Charlotte Robinson and brother James "Sonny" Holland.

Survivors include her husband, John Mallory Grace, Jr. of Denham Springs, two sons, Rick L. Sumrall and his wife Kela of Houston, Texas, James P. Sumrall and his wife Cathy of Denham Springs, sister Glenda Boyd of Walker, sister, Margaret Spillman of Roxton, Texas, and her great joys, her grandchildren, Holland Elizabeth and Zachary Sumrall, Justin and Ian Sumrall. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
