Dean Addleman, 74, of rural Little York, died Monday, June 6, 2005, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, with the Rev. Suzanne Geer officiating. Burial will be in Little York Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday at the chapel, where family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to Baby Fold, Western Illinois Animal Rescue or the Warren County United Way.

He was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Warren County, Ill., son of Burton and Myrtle Smith Addleman. He was reared and educated in Little York, graduating from Little York High School. Dean married Barbara J. Brown in Little York on Feb. 12, 1954; she passed away March 3, 2002.

Dean was owner and operator of Addleman Sand Pit in Henderson County for more than 40 years. He also farmed and raised livestock in Henderson County for more than 40 years. As a young man, Dean helped his father deliver mail in the Little York area. Dean and Barbara loved to travel, especially the western United States and Alaska. Dean visited every state in the union. Dean was an avid collector of John Deere tractors.

He was a member of the former Belmont Methodist Church. He also served on the board and was a charter member of the Little York Fire Protection District.

Surviving is his daughter, Stacy Dutton, Monmouth; two grandsons, Matthew Dutton and Nathan Dutton, both of Monmouth; his caretaker, Linda Brownlee, Oquawka, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Lon E. Addleman; and an infant sister.
