Daughter of William Lewis and Agatha Strother (Lewis) Adams.

Mary grew up on a Plantation North of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Migrated to Texas early 1838.

She was the mother of 10 children, four of whom died of illness before they reached the age of eight.

Served as President of the Ladies' Parish Aid Society/St. Mark's Church in San Antonio during the CW.

Member of the San Antonio Historical Society and The Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Served as president of the Alamo Monument Association.

Mary had always kept diaries of her life events; years later her Son, George Madison Maverick assisted her in publishing her memoirs.

Mary is buried next to her husband Samuel Augusts Maverick.

Her mother was Agatha Strother {Lewis} Adams born 1789 Botetourt Co VA -d.OCt 2, 1841 Tuscaloosa Alabama daughter of Colonel William Lewis (1764 VA-d.1812 Tuscumbia Alabama} and Lucy Madison {b.1770}
Col Lewis was the son of General Andrew Lewis and Elizabeth Givens. Lucy Madison was the daugthter of John Madison III {1725-1784} and Agatha Strother. John Madison was the son of AMbrose Madison grandfather of President James Madison
