He was baptized into the Christian faith on September 29, 1935, at Bethel Reformed Church, rural, Aplington.
He received his education from Ripley Township School near his home and continued at the Aplington Community School. Andy Served in the United States Army from October 3, 1954, until he was honorably discharged September 29, 1956.
On June 7, 1958, Andy was united in marriage with Barbara Kay DeBerg at the Kesley Presbyterian Church, Kesley, Iowa.
They made their home in Kesley where Andy worked for John Bruns Trucking. In 1963 they moved and farmed near Parkersburg until 1990. The couple moved back to Kesley and Andy worked for Kesley Ag Center until his retirement.
Andy was an active and faithful member of Kesley Presbyterian Church and served as Decon and Elder. He was a member of the Kesley AMVETS. He very much loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He often enjoyed visiting and having coffee with his friends at the elevator.
Andy passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center from complications of COPD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, William Aalderks.
Andy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Aalderks; one daughter, Connie (Jay) Mennenga; one son, Curt (Melanie) Aalderks; five grandchildren, Trent (Katie) Mennenga, Scott (Maria) Mennenga, Zachary Mennenga, Zach (financé, Brittany Eckland) Severson, Natalie (financé, Nick Garcia) Severson; seven great-grandchildren, Teagan, Blake and Charlotte Mennenga, Wesley Mennenga, Lauren and Jack Severson, and Kaius Garcia; one brother, Marvin (Rosie) Aalderks of Parkersburg; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Aalderks of Aplington.
Funeral Services will 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Bethel Reformed Church, with burial in the Bethel Reformed Church Cemetery, both rural Aplington.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel in Aplington, (319)346-1534, and one hour before services at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice or Aplington AMVETS post #102.
