Elmer Leon Parkinson, 90, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016.

He was born September 3, 1925 in Portage, Utah, to Oran Elmer Parkinson and Lavell Letitia Allen. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On October 13, 1948 Elmer married Eulla Ann Shakespear in the Logan LDS Temple. He retired from Richard’s Sheet Metal after 30+ years of service.

Elmer was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Bishop of the Roy 6th Ward and the Roy 15th Ward. He also served an LDS Mission in the Central States, a couple’s mission in Pittsburgh, PA, and he served as temple worker at the Ogden Temple.

Elmer is survived by six children: Randall (Melody) Parkinson, Dale (Annalee) Parkinson, Shari (Richard) Andersen, Karen (Vern) Poll, Lloyd (Candace) Parkinson and Marilyn (Craig) Northrup; and two siblings, Barry Parkinson, of Portage, and Marva Nielsen, of Salt Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eulla; sister, Rene Tingelstad; grandchildren: Christopher Parkinson, Jeremy Sherrod and Nicole Parkinson; and a great-granddaughter, Taylie Garner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
