He was born April 22, 1939 in Iredell County to the late Charles David “Red” Vanstory and Irene Poston Morrison.
Mr. Vanstory served in the US Navy. He worked at International Paper Uniwood Division and retired as a Supervisor after 35 years. He was also a farmer. He was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church in Hiddenite.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Nancy Martin Vanstory of the home; two sons, Allen Vanstory and wife Tracye of Stony Point, Gene Vanstory and wife Christine of Olin; a daughter, Elaine Vanstory of Wilkesboro; six grandchildren, Dalton Vanstory, Taylor Vanstory, Landon Vanstory, Allison Moore, Rebekah Vanstory and Joseph Vanstory.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Sunday October 21, 2012 at Pisgah United Methodist Church. Rev. Mike Duncan and Rev. Gary Revels will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Hiddenite Post 10000 and Taylorsville VFW Post 5466.
