Services for Evelyn Hendley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Hilliard Funeral Home with Dwayne Wheeler and Joe Bolin officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Evelyn Ruth Monds Hendley was born April 29, 1926 in Childress, Texas and passed away at the age of 90 on May 21, 2016 in Van. She had been a resident of Van for 30 years, formerly living in Wills Point. In earlier years, she worked for Texas Instruments and Southwestern Bell. She was a member of Van Church of Christ and was an Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucky Larue Hendley; father of her children, Samuel D. Rice; daughter, Gina Rice; brothers, James Monds and J.W. Monds; sister, Lorene Coker; parents, J.E. Monds and Gena E. Monds; and grandchildren, Chris Rice and Courtney Rice.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy & Cindy Rice of Van, Ronnie & Brenda Rice of Van, Sammy & Teresa Rice of New Mexico and Jerry Rice of Whitehouse; sister, Pat Hartley of Cedar Creek; sister-in-law, Peggy Monds of Van; eleven grandchildren, Clint, Shelli, Brandi, Kelli, Wheat, Robin, Matt, Jennifer, Thorin, Tonya and Shannon; twenty-two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
