Rita L. García, age 92, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.
Rita was a lifelong resident Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM.
Rita loved spending time with family and friends, cooking and enjoying a good game of baseball or basketball.
During World War II, Rita contributed to the war effort in San Diego, working as riveter on military planes. Rita was an avid traveler, spending time all over the country with her husband, Telesfor García.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Benigna García, her husband, Telesfor García, her son, Michael Anthony García, sisters, Emily, Alice and Mary Jane and brother, Alfonso Jr.
Rita is survived by her loving son, Alex García and his wife, Bonnie, her precious grandchildren, grandson, Joseph "Joe" García and his wife, Dezaree and granddaughter, Alexandra "Alexie" García.
Rita will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched, she will always have a special place in our hearts.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth Street NW, Albuquerque, NM. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Lisa Banach of Legacy hospice, Monsterrat Gallegos, Stephanie Soto and a special thank you to Pilar Orozco for the kindness and care she gave to our mom and grandma.
