RESIDENT OF LA RUE DIES; RITES SUNDAY
Mrs. Tillitha Smith, 82,
Passes Away at Home of Daughter
LaRue, March 5 - Mrs. Tillitha Smith, 82, died here last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Mapes. She had been ill three months from diabetes.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Hepburn M. E. church. Burial will be made in the Lee cemetery west of Hepburn.
Mrs. Smith was born at Lucasville Jan. 17, 1850. She was married twice, both husbands preceding her in death.
Surviving children are Mrs. Ella Mapes of LaRue, William Ward of Galesburg, Ill., Elmer Ward of Clarion, Ia., Benjamin Ward of Canada, Mrs. Belle Doyle of Marion, Earl Ward of Ridgeway, Guy Ward of Hepburn and Mrs. Myrtle Carey of Springfield. Mrs. James Tannyhill of LaRue is a step-daughter.

Matilda M. Tackett, daughter of Samuel and Hannah (Davis) Tackett, married 1) Silas Benjamin Ward May 26, 1874 in Scioto Co., Ohio; 2) Jacob Smith Jan 8, 1900 in Marion Co., Ohio. She is often referred to as Telitha or Tabitha in records of the time.

It may be possible that her headstone (if there IS one) reads "Telitha Ward" or any other name combination.
