PANA -- The Rev Robert D Kater, 52, of Pana died 12:25 p.m. Friday (April 15, 1983) in Barry Care Center, Pana.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Dodson Funeral Home, Pana, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana. Memorials: First Baptist Church Building Fund, Nokomis, or First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Stonington.
Mr Kater was born in St Louis, MO, son of Fred H and Rachel Kater. He was an employee of Caterpillar Tractor Co in Decatur, an interim minister for First Baptist Church, Stonington, former pastor for churches in southern California, Auburn, Waverly, Delavan, affiliated with Youth for Christ, member of Illinois Council of Churches, a former missionary to Mexico, and a member of First Baptist Church, Nokomis. He married Marilyn Prather in 1974.
Surviving are his wife; son, Fred of Tulsa, OK; stepson, Robert at home; daughters, Carolyn Eaton of Tulsa; Roberta Pullium and Elizabeth, Joan and Mary Kater, all of Delavan; stepdaughter, Patricia at home; grandparents, Martha Schmitt and Mr and Mrs Homer Klauson, all of Decatur, one grandchild.
