Rettie E. Higgins, daughter of John W. and Eliza Higgins, was born near Schenectady, New York, on March 20, 1871. When four years old she moved to Clinton county, Iowa, and at a later date to Sac county, Iowa.

She was united in marriage with Guy Graves. To this union one child was born. Later she married C. W Jones. They adopted a little child whose mother died during the influenza epidemic of 1918 The child passed away when thirteen years old.

Mr Jones died eight years ago in Hartley After his death Mrs. Jones went to Spencer to live with her daughter, Mrs. Strong.

Mrs. Jones has been an active member of the Methodist church, the Rebekah lodge, the Rebekah Past Noble Grands as well as the N, N. C. She has also been a member of the Woman's Relief Corp for the past fifty years.

Those in the immediate family who remain to cherish the memory of her good and useful life are a daughter, Mrs. Strong of Spencer, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, two brothers, S. W. Higgins of Lake View, Iowa, and Harvey Higgins of Wall Lake, Iowa.
