Vincent was the seventh son of Francis Albert and Anastasia Schauer's ten sons. He was born on Monday, December 23, 1918, in Chicago. On Thursday, September 19, 1940, Vincent enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged on Wednesday, April 28, 1943. For many years Vincent worked as a quality control clerk for Jones & Laughlin Steel. Family members report that Vincent was briefly married to a woman named Dorothy, but no records have been found to indicate when and where they were married, or how the marriage ended.

In Cook County, Illinois on Saturday, August 19, 1957, Vincent married Penny Johnson Cooper. Vincent passed away at the age of 63 on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on Thursday, August 19, 1982, in Whiting, Lake County, IN. Their one son, born on Monday, August 4, 1958, Richard (married to Kathy) Schauer, is living now in Tinley Park, IL. Penny Wojtanek, Vincent's second wife's married name, will be 95 in January 2017 and is living in Hobart, Lake County, IN.

Vincent had acute pancreatitis which resulted in cardiac arrest. He had a history of coronary heart disease. He is interred at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary, Lake County, IN.
