Lincoln Hinman was born in Galien Township the son of David and Sarah (Mansfield) Hinman and lived there all of his life.

He was married to Laura Zaring on February 13, 1882 in Galien, Michigan and was the father of five children: Guy, Betty, Mattie, Lee and Maude Belle.

Mr. Lincoln was a farmer, a member of the township board of Galien Township and a justice of the peace.

He was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church, a 32rd degree Mason, a member of the Knights Templar of the Three Oaks Masonic lodge, a member of the Galien Odd Fellows, and of the St. Joseph Elks.
