Einar Anton (Andy) Andresen, Jr.
November 6, 1924 - May 15, 2016

Einar Anton Andresen (Andy), of Kingsport, went to be in the arms of Jesus , his Savior, and to see his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth again, on May 15, 2016, at the Village at Allandale.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Church Hill. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and loved the Lord and had a real heart for missions, supporting and praying for missionaries. When he was able, he loved working as a spiritual counselor at the Church Hill Free Clinic and witnessing to and praying with the patients there. He served faithfully as a deacon and in other capacities at a number of churches in both Illinois and Tennessee.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 6, 1924.He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II as part of the 389th Bomb Group, 564 Squadron, flying out of Ethel, England. He served as a tailgunner. He flew 23 missions and received the Presidential Citation Air Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters. He received 4 battle stars for major battles. His first major mission was flying supplies to Patton’s troops at the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a Chicago City Fireman for 33 years. Serving at various stations as an engineer throughout the city of Chicago. His last station before he retired was at O’Hare Airport. After he retired, he and Ruth moved to Kingsport to be closer to their daughter, Betty, and her husband and their three children. He also worked as a brick and stone mason, building structures that will last for generations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Einar and Marie Johannesen Andresen, his sisters, Eleanor Wang and Ruth Philips , and his wife Ruth Eleanor Joransen Andresen.

He is survived by his children, Bruce Andresen and his wife, Linda, Kenneth Andresen and his wife, Charlene, and Betty Andresen Schilling and her husband, Dr. David Schilling, 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A military graveside service will be held immediately following at the Morning Star Church Cemetery on Morning Star Rd. in Church Hill with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 presiding.
