Jimmy Donald Adkins, 84, passed peacefully on Monday 8/27 surrounded by his family. He has gone to be with the Lord and his beloved Ruby in their heavenly home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, 8/31 at 11AM at Roswell Street Baptist Church.

Jimmy served in the Air Force and then spent his entire career at Lockheed as an electronic technician. He and his wife Ruby made their home in Marietta for the last 60 years and raised their family. He was a long-time member of Roswell Street Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship of the body of Christ and his long-time neighbors. Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Luster Adkins; parents, John Anderson Adkins and Elmo Bentley Tomlinson.

He is survived by 3 children; Robyn Smith (Frank), John Adkins (Kim), and Rex Adkins; 5 grandchildren; Bryan Ledford (Amanda), Blake Adkins, Jason Adkins, Heather Wilson, and Brittney Adkins; and 2 great-grandchildren; Lana Ledford and Colby Wilson.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday, 8/30 from 5PM to 8PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in loving memory of Jimmy to Roswell St. Baptist Church.
