Bill Adams
Billy Gene “Bill” Adams, 61, of Putney, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at his residence. Born February 11, 1955 in Harlan County and had lived here all of his life. Bill was a retired coal miner, a job which he took great pride and enjoyment in. He loved hunting, fishing and any outdoor activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Johnny Adams and Alene Durham Adams; two brothers, Denny (Deno) Adams and Jimmy Adams; and one sister, Phyllis Koch; a brother-in-law, Olin Pennington; and a step-granddaughter, Ahlora Grace Tackett.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Janet Adams, Putney; a son, Josh Adams and wife Amanda, Lexington; a step-daughter, Jan Childers, Louisville; two step-sons, Ron Tackett (Natasha) and Jeff Tackett (Shantana), of Pikeville; five brothers, Johnny Adams, Jr. (Edna), Loyall; Tommy Adams, Savannah, GA; Roy Adams (Faye), Teetersville; Charlie Adams (Tammy), Rosspoint; and Terry Adams (Dora), Rosspoint; three sisters, Helen Caldwell (Shadie), Wallins; Debbie Pennington, Putney; and Sherry Howard (Eddie), Berea.
Also surviving are two step-grandchildren, Daniel Joseph Tackett and Ehlana Tackett; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Tom Koch, Bobby and Missy Sanders, Jimmy “Bo” and Stephanie Lynn Sanders, Joy Smith and Sherry Engle Adams; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and many friends.
Visitation for Bill will be from 5 – 9 pm Tuesday, May 17, at Harlan Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday, May 18, at the funeral home with the Rev. Darrell Turner and the Rev. Joe Howard officiating.
Burial will follow at Evarts Memorial Gardens with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
