James Hugh was the son of James Percival & Mary (Stewart) Thayer. He is buried in what is now an abandoned cemetery but on Memorial Day 1993 his grandsons Arthur Thayer & Cecil Gunderson were able to locate the gravesite, and decorate the grave. Antioch is now a deserted town. James was a cook with a chuckwagon for the cowboys and was working in SD at the time of his death. He m. 9 Jan. 1883 to Alma Rachel Sanders in David City NE.
