Tonya Titus died suddenly and peacefully in her home on May 13th, 2016 in Ava, MO at age 56 after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Tonya was born on September 25th, 1959 to Delmer and Annette Caudill in Gainesville, MO. She graduated from Ava High School in 1977 before moving with her family to Muscatine, IA in 1980. She remained in Muscatine where she met her husband David Titus on May 3rd, 1985. They were united in marriage on August 28th, 1986. In 1987, Tonya and Dave moved back to Ava, MO where Tonya had grown up. Tonya remained with her husband in Ava for the rest of her life.

Tonya spent her days as a loving and dedicated homemaker. She loved gardening and being with her family. She spent many nights enjoying scary movies and reading true crime stories. She always loved a good “puzzle book” and was one of the most organized and intellectual people you could ever meet. Tonya loved music, whether it was Classic Rock, Christian, or Pop. Tonya never knew a stranger and anyone who met her knew that she greeted life with love, happiness, and positivity. No matter what the situation, Tonya always saw the brighter side and could often be found comforting others, even when she herself was the one in need of comfort. Even while undergoing treatment for cancer, Tonya amazed the medical staff around her by walking with her head held high and a smile on her face. Tonya will be sorely missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Tonya is survived by her husband David Titus; her father Delmar Caudill; 2 sisters and brother, Trudy Gunkel, Tammy Caudill, and Aaron Caudill; her niece and nephew Natasha and Gavin Gunkel; and her “fur-babies” Sasha, Susie, Emma, Tilly, and Tommy. She is preceded in death by her loving mother Annette “Ludwig” Caudill and her beloved puppy-dogs Captain, Princess, Taz, Duchess, and Sheba.

There will be a viewing for friends and family at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home on Monday, May 16th, 2016 from noon until 7 pm. A private graveside funeral service for immediate family only will be held at Ava Cemetery on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 at 11am with Pastor E.J. Hampton officiating. Memorials may be made to the Humane society.
