Alvin Barthel, 67-year-old former employee of the Enterprise Foundry who resides at 1606 Ohio Avenue, East St. Louis, died at his home at 3:50 o'clock yesterday afternoon following an illness of two years.
Mr. Barthel was born in Hecker, Ill., on June 9, 1891, a son of the late Henry and Mathilda Barthel, nee Hepp. He was married to the former Elsie Sauder.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sisters: Anna, wife of Jacob Stahlheber and Margaret, wife of Henry Stahlheber, both of Chula Vista, Calif. One sister, Miss Tillie Barthel, preceded in death two weeks ago.
Mr. Barthel was a member of the Molders Local 182 and East St. Louis Post 53 of the American Legion.
