Shirley Ann Hanson, 81, of Wellington, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20th at Wellington United Methodist Church, Wellington. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Shirley was born January 1, 1935, in Iatan, Missouri, the 9th daughter of 11 children to Joe and Uva (Bonner) Garrison. She was passionately proud of her large “Garrison” heritage, always sharing to make it possible that her ancestry would always be remembered.

Shirley was a devoted homemaker whom created and maintained throughout her life a tastefully decorated home, always welcoming family and friends to the aromas of homemade noodles and many other dishes that filled the overcrowded dining room table. She always made sure that everyone had the opportunity to fill a container of their favorites to take home. She spent endless hours maintaining her flower gardens, resulting in a fresh bouquet of flowers to grace her table from spring to fall.

Shirley loved to travel. In earlier years, they traveled cross country in their RV, even spending a few winters as show birds in Texas. In later years, when the weather permitted, frequent adventurous trips consisted of Shirley navigating all the back asphalt, gravel, and dirt roads throughout Missouri and Kansas that they could find.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; nine sisters: Sylvia Rice, Mary Jewel Goodpaster, Mildred Steward, Nola Garrison, Ina Rutkowski, Vivian Pace, Georgie Williams, & Eddie Cockriel; one brother, Tomas Garrison; and one sister-in-law, Helen Hanson.

Her survivors include her husband of 54 years, Earnest Hanson of the home; three sons: William J. (Rose) Edlin of Pleasant Valley MO, Steven D. (Donna) Edlin of Portland TX, and Greg N. (Beverly) Edlin of Milford KS; seven grandchildren: Tabatha L. Adams of Leavenworth KS, Linnea Edlin of Pleasant Valley MO, Tamara R. (Jeremy) Shop of Blue Springs MO, Rachel R. (Jason) Storr of Portland TX, Justin E. Edlin of Milford KS, Laura N. (Tony) Thomas of Blue Water NM, and Timothy R. (Christina) Edlin in the US Navy, San Diego CA (aboard USS America); seven great-grandchildren: Ryan (Kira) Adams, Beverly J. Adams, Dakota C. Kleasath, Trinity A. Storr, Matthew P. Edlin, Hailey G. Leonard-Thomas, and Suzannah R. Thomas; three step great-grandchildren: Jeana Keller, Neassa Thomas, and Niela Thomas; three brothers-in-law: Col. L.P.
