Ex Businessman Archer La Force dies
Archer La Force, 81, a resident of Tuscon since 1932 who served on several civic boards, died Sunday at 81.
La Force was born in Nocona, Texas, in 1896 ans was a partner in the Kansas-based Blucher Boot Company before moving to Tuscon. La Force opened the Western Boot company here, a concern he owned and operated until his retirement in 1954.
He then spend five years on the Pima County board of Adjustment and five years on the city Planning and Zoning Board. for 11 years he was volunteer chairman of the local American Red Cross, and in 1966 was given the organizations distinguished service award.
He is survived by his wife Betty; a sister, Mrs. L. Z. Cone; and a niece, Charlotte Cone.
La Force was a member of the Wildcat Club and Scottish Rite. He was also a life member of a Masonic Lodge in Kansas.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 740 N. Fourth Ave. Burial will be in Tuscon Memorial Park's East Lawn.
