He was born January 13, 1935 in Ivins, Utah to Walter and Martha Empey Hafen.
He married Drexel Adams Sanders on July 31, 1960. They were later sealed in the St. George LDS Temple. She passed away July 3, 1995. He married Karen Hunter Cosby on February 14, 1998.
Ray retired from the construction industry after 30 years in the Las Vegas area. He was active in the LDS church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Utah Jazz and The Colorado Rockies play.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen; four brothers: Alden (Verla), Lloyd (Sherril), Meryln Jack and Terry (Penny); two sisters: Jenny (Cressell) Sherratt and Leora (Kay Don) Christensen; step-daughter, Janice Potratz; and step-grandson, Gary Potratz; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gerald and Dale; and one sister, Eva Anderson.
