Mrs. Eree Lewis Callis,56, wife of City Marshall, George M.
Callis, died at her home in Dyer, TN Tuesday, May 18, 1937, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Callis was born Dec. 5, 1881
to Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Lewis of Trenton, TN. She was married to G.M. Callis April 11, 1912. To this union three children were born, two of whom survive.
Burial was in the Poplar Grove Cemetery Wednesday, May 19 at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services were conducted from the Poplar Grove Church by Rev. Sam Morrison and Rev. W.T. Garner. J.W.Baird & Sons were in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Callis is survived by her husband, two children Mary Sue and Evelyn, of Dyer; three step-children, Dale Callis, Mrs. Floyd Patterson, and Mrs Lloyd Bugg of Dyer; two sisters, Mrs. W.F. Duncan and Mrs. W.P. McKnight of Trenton.
Mrs, Callis bore her long suffering with Christian fortitude and retained her cheery disposition to the end. She became resigned to the inevitable and her thoughts were ever for the happiness and comfort of her loved ones and friends. She was known and respected as a good Christian character, a kind and loving mother, companion, neighbor and friend.
