William S. Dubs, 93, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Sprenkle Drive. He was the loving husband of Kathleen M. (Myers) Dubs, who passed away in 2008.
Bill was born in Heidelberg Township on July 21, 1922 and was the son of the late Roy D. and Lillie M. (Sterner) Dubs.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. He worked as a Supervisor for Hanover Brands and retired in 1988 after 45 years of employment.
He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Spring Grove and a former member of the Hawks Gunning Club and the AARP. After retiring he enjoyed woodworking, 1940's music, watching Orioles baseball and attending Revs games.
He is survived by his daughter, Joan L. Nolin and his son-in-law and best friend, Leo E. Nolin of Spring Grove; his son, Vaughn W. Dubs and wife, Marion of West York; his granddaughter, Roxanne Buckingham and husband, Jay; his grandson, Brian Gruver; his step-grandchildren, Patricia McVicker and husband Ron, Diana Nolin, David Baughman, Stacey Baughman, Laura Keister; and his great-grandchildren Brianna, Dakota, Ciara, Cheyanna and Kendra. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold Dubs; and his sisters, Ruth Garrett, Anna Kinneman and Marion Louey; and his son-in-law, Wayne Gruver.
A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Lou Ann Jones officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Marburg Memorial Gardens in Hanover with a flag folding ceremony provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Bethel U.C.C. 2112 Yingling Dr., Spring Grove PA 17362.
