Cornelius Brown married Hannah Parker Carter, widow of Richard Carter on 13 December 1849 at Pottawattamie, Iowa.
When Hannah died of Small Pox in 1852, her first two children migrated to Utah with the Snow, Carter, and York families. Franklin, her 3rd child was adopted out to the William and Rebecca Martindale family. They settled in Toole Utah.
Cornelius then married Sarah Hamer but separated from her when she chose to go west with the Mormon's. Sarah went to the Salt Lake Valley and Cornelius returned home to New York.
