Virgil was a retired electrician for the Westinghouse Elevator Division. He served in the US Army stationed in the Pacific and the Panama Canal and was a member of the American Legion in Antigua, Guatemala. He also attended Freedom Baptist Church in Spruce Pine.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Boozer Kearns and husband Tim of Bakersville and two grandchildren: Jennifer and Brandon; and many friends in Guatemala.
Virgil's family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Bonner closing in prayer.
