Gene Allen “Goose” Atkinson, of Harrison, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was 64 years old.

Visitation will be Monday, May 16 at Holt Memorial Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service is Tuesday, May 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Holt Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Teddy Don Schaeffer, Philip Landrum, Kent Cusack, Scott Cusack, Jonathon Rouse, and David Tanksley. Honorary pallbearers are all of the Harrison School Bus Drivers.

The son of Carroll and Ester (Shatswell) Atkinson was born on January 9, 1952 in Harrison.

Goose was a member of the Elmwood Baptist Church. He worked as a Harrison school bus driver for over 27 years. Goose was always happy and enjoyed making people smile by telling jokes. He also loved cars and cars shows and was a member of the Ozark Regional Mustang Club for years.

His parents; and twin brother, Dean preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Atkinson; one daughter, Crystal Landrum; two stepsons, Matthew Pulis and C.W. Trowbridge; six grandchildren, Alyssa Schaeffer, Alayna Landrum, Payton Hildenbrand, Rudonya Crisman, Charles Arthur, and Nikki Arthur; one brother and his wife, Clell and Jimmie Lee Atkinson; one sister, Jimmie “Tootsie” Cusack; and a host of other family and friends.
