Donald's nickname was Pete which was bestowed upon him in his young years when he was living in Oregon, working as a lumberjack. For a majority of Pete's adult life, he worked for Dupont as a manager. As a result, he moved all over the country. In the 1940's, he shook hands with FDR. In the 1950's, he transferred to Orange, Texas where he later retired. While golfing, he once once made a hole in one followed by a friend who did the same thing. Their picture made the local paper.
