Charles Fillmore Prickett III, M.D. passed away peacefully at his home on October 16, 2006.

Beloved husband for 27 years of Mary, father of Drew, Laura and Erin, brother of Charie Laugharn (the late John Laugharn), and uncle of C.J. Laugharn and DeEtte Baise (Chris).

Born September 27, 1949, in Pasadena to the late Charles Fillmore Prickett II, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Pasadena Playhouse, and the late Maudie Prickett, renowned character actress.

Chuck grew up in the Pasadena area, graduated from Occidental College in 1971, earned an M.S. in Physiology from U.S.C., and graduated from U.S.C. Medical School in 1978, where his classmates chose him to give the graduation speech.

Chuck completed a fellowship in spinal surgery at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, in Oswestry, England.

Chuck had a great zest for life; he cherished his family, friends, patients and acquaintances. He served on the High Point Academy Board of Trustees for ten years. While his children attended Flintridge Preparatory School, Chuck was known on campus as an enthusiastic fan of sporting events. He was a 33-year member of the Tournament of Roses and attended every U.S.C. football game his schedule permitted.

He loved meeting weekly with his special friends at the Pasadena Breakfast Forum and the Pasadena Twilight Club. Dr. Prickett was a partner in the Risser Orthopedic Group, whose partners and retired partners he loved dearly, and where he specialized in spinal surgery.

In addition, he served as the Chief of Surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital. He was on the staff at the Methodist Hospital of Southern California, Verdugo Hills Hospital, and was Chief of Staff at St. Luke Hospital in 1994-1995. Dr. Prickett was a clinical professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the U.S.C. School of Medicine.

He volunteered fo r 20 years at Orthopaedic Hospital, serving children weekly at the Hospital and traveling quarterly to the Hospital's free clinic for underprivileged children in Calexico on the U.S. - Mexico border. He also ran a clinic for treating children's spinal deformities at U.C.L.A. Hospital. He belonged to numerous professional associations, including the L.A. County Medical Association, the American Medical Association and the Western Orthopaedic Association. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society.

Chuck touched many lives in many places, and was well loved. The world is a better place because of him. He was a gentle giant whose warmth, compassion, generous spirit and humility will be missed by all.
