A. Joseph Bessette III, 50, of Harris Avenue, a master plumber before retiring in 1990, died Monday at Delray Community Hospital, Delray Beach, Fla. He was the husband of Gail A. (Potuchek) Bessette . Born in Riverside, he was a son of Margaret (O'Rourke) and Alfred J. Bessette Jr. of Charlestown.
Mr. Bessette was a 25-year member of the Plumbers Union, Local 28. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a past president of St. Jude Church Council.
Besides his wife and parents, he leaves a son, A. Joseph Bessette of Lincoln; two daughters, Julie-Anne Bessette of Lincoln, and Stephanie G. Bessette of Woonsocket; four brothers, William Bessette of Lincoln, Christopher and Peter Bessette , both of San Francisco, and Stephen Bessette of Charlestown, and eight sisters, Mary Ellen Krochmal of Cumberland, Anne Landry and Margaret Muksian, both of Lincoln, Barbara Mello of Portsmouth, Jacqueline Bessette of Charlestown, Deborah and Elizabeth Bessette , both of Newport, and Linda Branch of Narragansett. He was a brother of the late Jack Bessette .
The funeral will be Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Jude Church, Front Street. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. (The Providence Journal)
