John Landers Roberts was born in Milledgeville, Gwinnett County, Georgia, the youngest child of David P. Roberts (son of Shadrach) and Elizabeth Page (daughter of Benjamin Page and Dilley Landers and formerly widow of Henry Spaulding's son).

In October 1855, John Landers Roberts was a member of the Church at Antioch, Benton County, Alabama. John is mention in the minutes of the Macedonia Baptist Association.

on February 18, 1858, in Calhoun
(formerly Benton)County, Alabama.

MILITARY - CIVIL WAR
CONFEDERATE SOLDIER

John Landers Roberts enlisted in the service of the Confederate States, as a Private in Company B in the 27th Regiment on the day of August 1861 at Gaylesville in the State of Alabama.
Soon after being mustered into service the Twenty-Seventh Alabama Infantry was placed on garrison duty at Fort Donelson, Tennessee. The majority of the regiment was captured when that place fell in February, 1862, under Head's Brigade, B. R. Johnson's Division.

Co. B, 27th Regiment was eventually absorbed into
Co. B, 55th Regiment.

On 28 July 1864, Private John L Roberts
received a gun shot wound in left arm;
at the "Battle of Peach Tree Creek", Atlanta, Georgia, which began on 20 July 1864.

John Landers Roberts, a Confederate Prisoner was paroled from (Saulsbury) Salisbury, North Carolina on May 02, 1865.

On January 1, 1899, residing on a 120 acre farm in Hurley, Cherokee County, Alabama, John Landers Roberts applied for the pension, Application for the Relief of Confenderate Soldiers and Sailors. John Landers Roberts was 65 years old and was unable to make a living by manual labor on account of hernia and stiff knee joint. (Rheumatism)
