Beatrice was born on Jan. 21, 1914 in Hammond, Illinois, a daughter of Albert C. and Effie Griswold Fisher. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, a sister and a nephew.
Bea is survived by six nephews, Ed (Ann) Sawyer, Allen D. Sawyer, Kenneth (Jan) Sawyer, Larry N. (Fay) Sawyer, Gary (Nancy) Sawyer and Albert C. (Sherlyn) Fisher, as well as nieces, Patty Heit, Wanda Williams and Janice (Tom) Behrens.
Bea was a member of the Hammond United Methodist Church, Hammond. She was in the American Red Cross during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge.
Bea loved to hike up the Half Dome in Yosemite National Park and she did that 18 different times.
She taught school in Assumption, Cowden in Illinois and in the Oakland school districts in Oakland, Calif. Bea graduated from Illinois Normal University in 1936, which is now Illinois State University.
