Mrs. S. B. Morrison before her marriage was Miss Myrtle Lee McKnight, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Madison McKnight of Gibson County, Tennessee. She was born January 1st, 1886. Soon after finishing the public schools of Gibson County, she was married to Samuel B. Morrison in June, 1908. This home was blessed with the birth of four sons, Finis, John W., Coy, and Rufus, who died in infancy. In 1912 Mr. Morrison was admitted as a member of the Memphis Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and from that year the Rev. and Mrs. Morrison served for 42 years as a faithful pastor and wife of our Conference. Thirty-eight of their forty-two years were served in the Dyersburg District; only one appointment of four years was in the Brownsville District. I feel that it can be truthfully said that no minister and wife has ever been better known or more highly respected in the Dyersburg District than the Rev. and Mrs. Morrison. It was the privilege of the City of Newbern, Tennessee, to have Rev. and Mrs. Morrison move here to make their home fellowing his retirement from the active ministry in 1954. Then on December 19th, 1959, Mrs. Morrison was transferred to the Church Above.Services in her memory were held the afternoon of December 21st in the beautiful sanctuary of the Poplar Grove Methodist Church in Gibson County. The Rev. H. J. Burkett, Rev. L. R. Wadsworth, Rev. Norman Orr, and Rev. Cecil L. Page officiated. Following the service her body was laid to rest in the nearby church cemetery. In addition to her three sons, Mrs. Morrison is survived by her husband, Rev. S. B. Morrison, one brother, J. D. McKnight of Dyer, Tennessee, and one sister, Mrs. M. D. Barron, also of Dyer, Tennessee.
