She was born January 3, 1931 in Mid, Kentucky in Magoffin County, daughter of the late Kindle and Maudie (Allen) Shepherd. Virginia moved to Adrian then Jackson, Michigan for several years, then to Willard in 1942 and Greenwich in 1958. She attended school in Willard.
She had attended the Plymouth Church of God, The Messiah House of Prayer in Shiloh and Deliverance Tabernacle in New London.
She is survived by her son, David W. (Denise) Baker of Charlotte, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Chris (Amy) Baker of Shelby, Ohio and Alison (Isaiah) Durso of Columbus, Ohio; great-grandchildren, McKenna and Troy Baker, Gage, Cole, Weston and Sydney Durso; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Harold D. Baker, brothers, Kindle Jr., Manis, Clyde, Claude and Mitchell; sisters, Charity Lacy and Bessie Perkins.
Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main Street, Greenwich where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Bill Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven. Due to Virginia's love of books, memorials may be made to the Greenwich Public Library, 4 New Street, Greenwich, Ohio, 44837.
