Son of Isaac Rorer and Mary Latherow. First married to Elizabeth Jane Briggs who died in 1878 at the age of 32. Samuel and Elizabeth were the parents of Anna Blanche Hoffman, wife of Charles L. Hoffman. Samuel is buried with his second wife, Clara Alice Wakefield who died in 1923.

Obituary:
Samuel Rorer, a guest at the Methodist Home for the Aged, at Tyrone, died at the home on Sunday night, July 17, at 9:45 o'clock. Mr. Rorer was a son of Isaac and Mary (Latherow) Rorer and was born at Edward Furnace, Pa., on January 27, 1849. He became a guest at the Home on October 19, 1936. He is survived by four nieces: Mrs. Mary Anderson and Mrs. Roy Morton, of Petersburg; Mrs. J.M. Williams of Williamport and Mrs. Ralph Jackson, of Waterloo, Idaho; also three great-grandsons, and two granddaughters, Mrs. Harry Lang, of Petersburg, and Mrs. Robert Smith, of Belleville. Brief funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Home on Wednesday morning at eight o'clock in charge of Rev. Dr. Edgar R. Heckman, superintendent. The body will be taken to Petersburg where final services will be held in the Petersburg Methodist church in charge of Rev. C.E. Diehl, followed by burial in the Petersburg cemetery.
