Robert E. Bunty, 90 of Hanover, passed peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2016 at home. He was the loving husband of Ruth Alda (May) Bunty who died May 27, 2010.

He was born May 21, 1925 in Hanover, the son of the late Paul L. and Edith (Mummert) Bunty.

Mr. Bunty served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He served aboard the USS Frederick, the USS Custard and the USS Harris. After his military service, he married his wife Ruth on May 9, 1953 and was a very devoted husband. Mr. Bunty was employed with Emeco Industries, Hanover for 33 years and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan.

He is survived by his niece, LouAnn Reese and husband Richard, Hanover, sister, Shirley Henshaw, Littlestown and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul L. Bunty, Jr. and Richard Bunty.

At Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, 26 North 3rd Street, McSherrystown for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM with Rev. Charles L. Persing, celebrant Burial with full military honors conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. Serving as pallbearers will be, Thomas Reese, Mark Carbaugh, Chad Noel, Joseph Arigo, Tyler Smith and Joel Werner.
