He was the son of William H. and Eliza (Rumrill) Spafford, born in Weathersfield, VT. On 5 Oct 1864 he married Mattie E. Kingsbury, daughter of William and Fanny (Spring) Kingsbury of Chester. She died 3 June 1877 leaving three children. Henry married second Lydia Ella Marsh, daughter of Jarod and Elmira (Eaton) Marsh of Chester and they had five children. From book, "Men of Vermont, an Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters...."
