Born October 19, 1925, in Pacolet Mills, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Wade and Rosa Jeanette Byars White and the wife of the late Sherman (Pappy) Harris.
She was retired from Timkin, a former Avon representative, and a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane H. Dillard and husband Jimmy of Pickens; a son, Ron E. Harris and wife Linda of Greenville; grandchildren, Jason Dillard and wife Cristin, James Dillard and wife Melanie, and Rosanna Harris; a sister, Mary White Starnes of Spartanburg; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by an infant son on May 30, 1949, Roger Dean Harris; and a brother John Earl White.
Mrs. Harris lie in state from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church for public viewing, followed by a private burial.
A Celebration of Life service was held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Norman Band, the Rev. Jimmy W. Dillard, and Dr. David "Rusty" Ivey.
Visitation followed the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, P. O. Box 660, Pacolet Mills, SC 29373; or to the , 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
