Harry was the son of George Clifton Bandy and his wife, Nancy Jane Osborne. He had a brother, Clarence, and a sister, Jessie. He married Clara (Betty) Hanson in Chicago, Illinois, but had no children.

Harry loved golf and was the Secretary of the Cleveland District Golf Association from at least 1922-1937 if not longer.
