Ruth Jane Abbott was born on January 7, 1926 in Lexington, Nebraska. She was one of six children by Gilbert and Rebecca Stevens. She grew up in Lexington and graduated from high school, where she later married her husband of 57 years, Chester Abbott. They stayed in Lexington for about 6 years until they moved to Aurora, Colorado. They raised their family in Colorado until 1972, her husband was promoted and transferred to Oklahoma City. In 1987 they moved to Plano, Texas, where they retired. Ruth worked as a seamstress and always kept her yard impeccable. Even with a little grumbling, Ruth kept her yard clear of any weeds and her flowers fresh. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles and anything to keep her mind active and working. She also enjoyed watching football and cheering on her favorite wrestlers on WWE wrestling. Ruth leaves behind her daughter Leatrice Baker of Plano, her daughter-in-law, Kelli Abbott of Vancouver, WA widow of her son Steven Abbott, her brother Charles Stevens of Denver, CO. she also leaves behind a large legacy of grandsons, great grandchildren and one great great grandson: Her grandsons Christian Baker of Plano TX, Kevin Baker of Phoenix AZ, and Craig Baker of Thornton CO, her great grandchildren Kevin Jr, Heather, Nicolas, Tiffany, Allyson and her great great grandson Eli. Ruth goes on to join her husband Chester and her four siblings: Claude Stevens, Robert Stevens, Burt Stevens, and Virginia Brown and her son Steven Abbott. The family will be taking Ruth back to Colorado to be set in her final resting place, next to her husband Chester
