McDonald- Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home-Mineral Ridge Chapel for Clair W. Clawson, age 76 of 2341 Sixth St. who died Sunday afternoon at home. Clair was born Feb. 27, 1927 in Westover, Pa. and was the son of Mary Lucille (Ashcraft) and Jacob M. Clawson. He retired in 1979 from Youngstown Sheet and Tube, Briar Hill Works where he has been a first helper in the open hearth. Clair had served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he specialized in marksmanship and received the Victory Medal. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Frances (Bielec) Clawson whom he married Oct. 25, 1945. He also leaves two daughters, Catherine Gabrish of Canfield, Sandra (Gary) Borton of Girard, a son Andrew Clawson at home, three brothers Merle Clawson of McDonald, James Clawson of Burghill, OH, Lewis Clawson of Youngstown, three grandchildren, James and Regina Gabrish, Samantha Eash, four great grandchildren, Anthony and Alexus Gabrish, Cameron Creech, Abigail Rose Eash and two step great grandchildren, Sabra and Shelby Rogers and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters Nellie Collins, Agnes Longnecker, Maude Deyamin and a brother Wilmer Clawson.
