Robert "Bob" Sorensen, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on April 4, 2016 at the age of 87. He was born on April 12, 1928 in Logan, Utah to Prof. Alma Nicholas and Mary Carlisle Sorensen.


Bob is survived by his beloved wife Noel Sorensen, sons Scott, Jeff and Mark Sorensen, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Alma Nicholas and Mary Sorensen and seven siblings.


Bob earned his B.S. degree in journalism at Utah State University and a M.S. degree in journalism at Northwestern University.


During his tour in the Air Force, he flew the B-29 Bomber over North Korea and later the B-47 Stratojet after his transfer to Barksdale A.F.B in Shreveport, La. After his discharge from the Air Force, he worked in Wichita, KS at Boeing Aircraft for two and a half years and then moved back to Shreveport where he worked in the oil and gas field and advertising. The next move was to Dallas, TX where he spent the rest of his career in advertising and public relations. Later he and Noel retired in McKinney, TX.


Bob and the family request memorials be made in the form of kindness done for another person and remember him as a loving friend. Donations can be made to the charity of choice.


Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 2:00 PM in the chapel at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 Pres. George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX 75252
