Mrs. Sarah E. Flinn, age 88 years, died at her home at Newport last evening following a three weeks' illness. On March 1, Mrs. Flinn fell at her home fracturing her hip, and since that time has been confined to her bed. She was the widow of Howard E. Flinn, who died in 1898.
On February 12, Mrs. Flinn celebrated her 88th birthday anniversary, and on that occasion received many cards, congratulations and good wishes. Up until the time of her accident, she was active about her home, although her eyesight had become somewhat impaired.
Mrs. Flinn was born near Newport and had practically made her home in that section all her life. Before her marriage, she was Miss Sarah E. Lynam. For many years she had been a member of the Newport Methodist Episcopal Church.
She is survived by the following daughters: Mrs. D. W. Chandler of Newport; Mrs. J. H. Polk of Hockessin; Mrs. Ada L. Ball of Wilmington and Mrs. Harvey E. Gregg of Newport. She had eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by the following sisters and brother; Mrs. Mary McAllister, Mrs. Lauretta Brown, and Mrs. Pusey Pennock and John R. Lynam.
The funeral will take place from her late home at 2 o'clock, Saturday afternoon with interment in St. James Cemetery, Newport. The services will be in charge of the Rev. J. L. Sparklin pastor of the Newport Church, and the Rev. R. P. Nichols of Pocomoke City, Maryland.
