Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Slocum Baptist Church for Mr. Thomas Oscar Alsobrook who died at his home Saturday afternoon, May 31. Interment was at the Crawford Cemetery. Rev. O.P. Meadows and Rev. W.H. Turner officiated at the last rites.
Mr. Alsobrook who had been in bad health several months, was born May 22, 1864, in Prescott, Ark., and moved to Texas to the George Whitley ranch, near Myrtle Springs, 47 years ago, moving soon after to Slocum, where he and his family have resided since.
Mr. Alsobrook was married to Miss Carrie McDaniel 55 years ago. He was a charter member of the Slocum Baptist Church and served on the local school board for a number of years.
The deceased is survived by his wife; 4 daughters, Mrs. T.H. Lockler of Houston, Mrs. Jack Johnson of Palestine, Mrs. Earnest Day of Slocum, Mrs. Flavel Holtom of Houston; five sons, Euel of Slocum, Edwin of Percilla, Rt. 1, Marvin of Slocum, Estus of Houston; 20 grandchildren; one great grand child; 3 sisters; and one brother.
Pallbearers were Clarence Chambers, Art Bradshaw, Shelly Stewart, Elvis Gilmore, Caro Day and W.T. LaRue.
Out of county relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. E.P. Greer of Fort Worth, D.C. McDaniel of Dallas, Mrs. Earnest Jones and daughter of Brownwood, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Rigby of Bedis, Mr. and Mrs. Dale McDaniel of Kilgore, Mrs. O. McDaniel of Prescott, Ark., Mr. and Mrs. T.F. Day of Arp, Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Hendrix of Jacksonville, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Stevens of Talco, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Walters of Maydell, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Skeen of Tyler, and Mr. and Mrs. I. Holtom of Grapeland.
