James F. Kocab worked for 37 years as a laborer at the oil refineries of the Standard Oil Co., now British Petroleum, in Cleveland. He retired 20 years ago.
Mr. Kocab, who was 82, died Friday at Fairview General Hospital after a stroke and heart problems. He was born in Cleveland and was a resident of Fairview Park. He was a talented and prolific painter of watercolors, many of which were sold to collectors.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Mary Ann Biaglow of Mantua, N.J., Therese Skala of Medina, and Virginia of Fairview Park; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Angela's Catholic Church, 20970 Lorain Rd., Fairview Park.
