Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Colonial Funeral Home for Mrs. Golda Fortenberry, 95, of Foxworth, who died Thursday, May 5, at her residence. Interment was in the Hopewell Cemetery. The Rev. Sessions Polk and the Rev. Reid Houston officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, May 9, at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Jefferson Davis County, she was a homemaker and a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Fortenberry; son, Travis Fortenberry; grandson, Keith Delcuze; parents, Joseph Lee and Mary Catherine Jackson; sisters, Jewell Jordan, Edna Parish, Ruth Cole and Mary Maude Bass and brothers, Robert Jackson, Stanley "Bill" Jackson and Charles Jackson.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Caldwell of Foxworth; son, Ford Fortenberry (Jean) of Foxworth; eight grandchildren, Cheryl Cook, Lisa Smith, Tim Fortenberry, Todd Fortenberry, Lane Fortenberry, Richard Maliden, Katrina Foxworth and Terry Delcuze Jr.; 22 great grandchildren, Hannah Cook, Travis Cook, Skyler Delcuze, Christian Delcuze, Travis Fortenberry, Timothy Fortenberry, Linley Fortenberry, Hayden Smith, Holden Smith, Kaylee Fortenberry, Nathan Fortenberry, Shea-Lynn Delcuze, Layla Fortenberry, Ashley Hurst, Tyler Stringer, Chase Thornhill, Cooper Thornhill, Heidi Thornhill, Emma Claire Pruitt, Raylan Foxworth, Lawson Fortenberry and Zane Taylor Fortenberry; daughter-in-law, Sue Fortenberry and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
